The beauty of Education

Henri Matisse, when he was a young painter visited his master Renoir, a renowned painter who was suffering from arthritis. While watching the old painter paint, he realised that every brush stroke Henri made, made him cry with agony. He would cringe with pain and then paint another stroke and feel the torturing razor cut like pain through his finger. He will paint again and again.

Matisse asked his master, “You have achieved so much, why do you still punish yourself by painting. The agony you go through is too much.”

Renoir smiled and said, “The pain I suffer and will pass but the beauty I create will remain forever.”

When you are pursing your studies, remember that though it may be agonising, it is not equivalent to the suffering of Renoir. The beauty of education is that it will never leave but stay with you forever.
